How you stand is very important in taekwondo. It decides if it's you or your opponent who's going to fall down. If you want to be a great fighter, the first thing you'll learn is “apsogi” or the forward stance. It is used so much when you throw kicks. Simply face forward with your legs as wide as your shoulders as if you take a “ready stance.” Just take a normal step forward. That's it! The forward stance is easy and comfortable. Now, you'll be able to move in any direction at any time. This can save you precious seconds you'll need to do a kick.
